Summer AAA and Majors Divisions
by posted 06/01/2020

Over the past several weeks, our board has been reviewing the guidelines set forth by the state and local governments in conjunction with the recommendations of Little League International, and based on currently available information we are planning a summer season for our AAA and Majors divisions (ages 9-11 and 10-12 respectively).

We are working out the details related to safety guidelines and social distancing protocols, and the specifics on timing will be subject to the Governor’s “Reopening Massachusetts Plan” and “Safety and Reopening Standards for Parks, Open Space, and Outdoor Education Programs”.

We have posted our 2020 Summer Season Plan to the Newton Little League website.  This plan provides detailed information on general guidelines, on field protocols, use of personal protective equipment and guidelines for game play and equipment and use of league facilities.

Our plan is to open registration and form teams in the coming weeks, start practices later in June and schedule games for July and August.  At this point we are not planning a summer season for younger divisions, but as we work through more of the details related to restarting baseball activities, we will look to offer small-group based clinics and other activities for our younger players as soon as we feel this can be done in a safe and controlled manner.

We understand that many families will have questions about how baseball activities will be run given the current conditions, and while we will make every attempt to ensure the health and safety of players, families and volunteers, we understand that many families may choose not to participate at this time.  We respect these decisions and will look forward to welcoming players and families back as soon as they are comfortable doing so.
