2020 Spring Majors
Little League ages 10-12:
The Majors represents the most competitive division of play in NLL. Teams are formed by a draft by the Majors Managers in late January – to be eligible for the draft new players must have attended a mandatory skills evaluation. Once drafted by a team, players remain on that team for the balance of their Little League career. Practices begin in late-Mar or early-Apr, weather permitting. Expect 3-4 events per week, including practices and 2-3 games. One Majors team will represent NLL in the Newton City Series Tournament over Memorial Day weekend. An end-of-season playoff tournament is held in mid-Jun, and an All-Star team is assembled to represent NLL in the Williamsport Tournament with play starting in late June.
This division is made up primarily of players who are league age 11-12. Only 12-year-olds and returning Majors players are guaranteed placement in the Majors. 11-year-old players not drafted into the Majors are automatically placed in AAA. Advanced league age 10 players who played in AAA last Spring are also eligible to try out for the Majors.
This division is a more advanced league for players who have demonstrated a greater proficiency with baseball fundamentals. There is a continual emphasis on building and developing further baseball skills in a competitive environment. Players pitch, scores and standings are kept, and base stealing (to second and third base only) and bunts are permitted. Little League age 12 players may play in this division by waiver only.
All players interested in playing in the 2020 AA or AAA Divisions must attend an evaluation session. The AAA evaluation will be held during January or February 2020 at Newton North High School. Exact dates and times to be determined.
This division is a developmental league and coaches are expected to emphasize having fun while teaching players fundamental baseball skills. Players pitch, scores, and standings are kept, bunting is allowed, and limited base stealing (second bas only) is permitted. Games will be competitive, but coaches should utilize game situations to teach correct situational play and decision-making. Players will play a variety of positions.
All players interested in playing in the 2020 AA or AAA Divisions must attend an evaluation session. The AA evaluation will be held during January or February 2020 at Newton North High School. Exact time and date to be determined.
Based on prior feedback, we have established a Single A division that will be similar to the Farm division from previous years but will be closer to real baseball. We will introduce kid pitch at some point in the season. We think this will be a good bridge for kids that are more advanced than farm but not quite ready for AA. Expect 2-3 events per week, including one weekend game and one weekday game.
The Farm Division is for players that are league age 6 - 8, typically 1st grade or less-skilled 2nd graders. This is an instructional division where the focus is on developing players and their skills. Teams of 10-12 players are typically formed by placing friends and classmates together. Expect 2-3 events per week, including one weekend game and one weekday game.
Rookie league goal is to provide an introductory skill-based baseball experience that allows Kindergarten aged players exposure to coach pitch with the option of hitting off of a Tee. Teams are focused on providing young players with fundamental baseball skills plus FUN! Teams will be 7-9 players with friends and classmates playing together.
This division is for Kindergarten aged players with similar safety considerations with a safer baseball - while providing for differences in player abilities. Expect 1-2 events per week, including a weeknight practice and a game on Sunday.
Please note: Kindergarten players MUST enter their grade as "0":
As the first level of organized baseball, the emphasis in T-Ball is on FUN. Play is off a tee with a soft safety baseball. Everyone bats and everyone plays the field. Small teams of 7-9 players are formed by placing friends and classmates together as much as possible. Expect 1-2 events per week, including a weeknight practice and a game on Sunday. Players end their season in mid-June with a special trophy day event.
T-Ball is for players who are league age 4-6. League age for Spring of 2020 is defined as how old the player is on or before 8/31/2020. Generally, all pre-k and beginner kindergartners should be registered for T-ball.
Please note: Pre-K players MUST enter their grade as "-1"; note the minus sign

2020 Challenger Division
The Challenger Division of Little League is a program for developmentally and physically challenged youth, helping them to enjoy the full benefits of Little League participation in an athletic environment structured to their abilities. More than the skills of baseball learned through the experience, the value of the Little League Challenger Division is found in the proven therapeutic and socialization benefits of participating in sports; the strengthening of participants’ self-esteem; the opportunities to mainstream into other divisions of play and the disciplines of teamwork, sportsmanship and fair play, which are hallmarks of the Little League program. The Little League Challenger Division provides the framework so Little League programs may offer a structured, athletic activity for all youth in their communities. Playing with the same equipment on the same fields, Challenger Division participants have the opportunity to experience the joys of pulling together as a team, being cheered, and earning awards for their achievements.
